The region of Wachau
ranks among the most charming and ancient cultural historical landscapes of Austria. Weißenkirchen, a town of distinct character, lies nestled among unique terraced gardens that guard over the valley land and people with unerring vigilance.

Ilse and Toni Bodenstein
have been responsible for the estate's quality since the early nineties. Their central philosophy: The wines should reflect the vineyard sites that grew them. Toni Bodenstein dedicates much effort to do justice to the diversity of contrasts found in the smallest of areas, the unique soil formations and the subtle microclimate. Therefore, the wines made from the grapes grown in the various terroirs have their own unmistakable character, however fine distinctions between them may be. The vineyard and cellar tasks are performed according to traditional methods, paired with the necessary innovation, and always aspiring to produce the best possible quality.

Weingut Prager
perpetuates yesteryear's traditions to preserve them for the generations to come. Many generations of the Prager family have worked the vineyards here. A hereditary letter of Kloster Michaelbeuern, the original of which is in the family's possession, mentions three vineyards in the year 1715, that have remained part of the estate to this day: the terroirs "Ritzling", "Hinter der Burg", and "Leber".

Franz Prager
is one of the region's viticultural pioneers and has made the estate one of Wachau's best. In 1983, he participated in the establishment of the "Vinea Wachau" association, which ultimately helped the area gain special status among the regions of Austria. Until 1988, Franz Prager was president in the area protection union (Gebietsschutzverband).
The great vineyard sites
of the estate are located both in Weißenkirchen, in the terroirs "Steinriegl", "Klaus", "Achleiten", and "Weitenberg" and in Dürnstein, in the "Kaiserberg" and "Hollerin" terroirs. Taken together, these vineyards cover an area of 13 ha, some of which are terraces in extremely steep terrain. The varieties grown are Riesling (70%), Grüner Veltliner (30%). A small part is dedicated to Sauvignon blanc.
The wines
are characterized by their unmistakable structure: fruity and terroir-specific. The dry, completely fermented wines in the classic "Federspiel" (12%vol) and "Smaragd" (13%vol) styles make up the greatest share. In its effort to stretch the limits of feasibility, the estate completes its range with "Prädikatswein" - from Auslese to Trockenbeerenauslese. Being a vintner in this unique landscape is a heritage and a challenge alike.
